Training Provided

A vital part of camp preparation takes place at Pre-Camp Training. Counselors receive complete Bible study curriculum to prepare daily Bible Exploration lessons. Activity leaders are equipped with lesson plans and resources.  Individuals who serve at camp fine-tune their leadership, relational and outdoor skills– and find themselves ministered to as they minister. The highlight for many is staff Bible Study each morning as Scripture, prayer and fellowship unify the group to accomplish daily tasks.

Purpose

Our summer camp provides a Christ centered outdoor program which helps children learn to love God and his creation and to grow in every way. Camp helps campers come to know Christ and then develop habits of the Christian life.

What happens at Camp?

Certain features reflect the values of our ministry to children and provides means for reaching its objectives:

Morning Watch– the camper’s time alone with God to study the Bible and pray at the beginning of each day.

Bible Exploration– an activity related Bible Study, led by the counselor in a small group setting.

Evening Devotions– a brief time for cabin groups to review how God worked in the day’s events and to end the day with prayer.

Serving at Camp Rocks

As a staff member, you’ll find a Christian atmosphere with mutual helpfulness and support.  All staff members value, respect and boost each other. Any staff member from counselor to director recognizes that campers’ growth in Jesus Christ is their primary responsibility.

Qualifications

· Knowledge of Christ as personal Savior and desire to serve Him

· Emotional maturity

· Physical stamina

· Good moral character

· Enjoyment of outdoor living

· Ability to place campers’ needs ahead of personal desires

· Ability to work as a member of a group

· Interest in meeting the camp objectives

· Skills and abilities for specific responsibilities

· Enthusiasm and loyalty

· Flexibility: willingness to assist outside one’s specialty; to change plans or take a different duty if requested

· Age 18 and above or a CILT graduate

· Experience in Children’s Ministry (optional)

· Counseling experience in another Christian camp (optional)

Themes– weekly fun themes that keep the program exciting as well as spiritual themes that help campers set goals for Christian growth.

Skill Development– activities that develop campers’ proficiency in a variety of outdoor and creative skills.

Outdoor Life– activities that help campers appreciate God’s creation and feel more comfortable in the outdoor.

Evening Programs– lively and satisfying activities followed by a campfire, singing and a devotional message

Divisions– several age groups attending camp together and enjoying their own special

programs within the larger camp setting.
